The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences includes the Office of the Dean, Early College Programs, Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Divisions of Humanities, Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences, and Social Sciences. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean, the Director of Early College Programs, and the Liberal Arts and Sciences Division Chairs work collaboratively, in partnership with faculty, to offer a wide range of high-quality degree programs to a diverse student body. Students who graduate with a degree from one of the Liberal Arts and Sciences divisions will have completed a cohesive program of study that integrates General Education Core courses, major program requirements, and minor program requirements and/or elective credits. Whether a student completes an individualized Interdisciplinary Studies degree, or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in the Liberal Arts and Sciences, each graduate will have had opportunities to participate in on-campus and on-line classes, in seminars, research symposia, internships or service learning, second language study, clubs and activities, and other experiences designed to enrich his or her academic career.
Prior Learning Assessment
Students may earn college credit for specific college-level learning that they have achieved through life and work experiences. Prior Learning Assessment opportunities range from standardized exams such as CLEP or DSST, credit recommendations from programs such as ACE, Challenge Exams, or Portfolio Assessment. Independent Study in Idaho
Independent Study in Idaho (ISI) delivers affordable online college courses. Begin any time, work from anywhere at your own pace, and take up to one calendar year from the date of registration to complete.
- Admission to cooperating institutions is not required
- Same in-state and out-of-state registration fees
- Idaho residency is not required

ISI was created in 1973 by the Idaho State Board of Education as a cooperative of four accredited Idaho institutions: Lewis-Clark State College, Idaho State University, Boise State University, and the University of Idaho. Students should contact the institution to which they hope to transfer courses regarding the transferability of their ISI courses prior to enrolling.
